Despite his growing popularity recently, the 29-year-old artist has not revealed his real name. The title of his album, Ganger, is inspired by a self-given nickname. It was a nod to rappers Veeze admired, who have multiple pseudonyms.

Besides, Veeze does not prefer doing interviews. He moved to Atlanta from Detroit in 2012 and started promoting Hot 107.9.

At the time, he attempted to support artists like Team Eastside and Doughboyz Cashout onto the radio station’s mix show hosts.

After several years of living in the city, Veeze has gotten closer to Atlanta’s rap royalty, such as Lil Baby, which he describes as an internship in becoming a rap star.

The rapper has been a viral sensation over the years. His debut mix tape titled Navy Wavy in 2019 put him on the map of the rap genre.

His biggest single, ‘GOMD,’ was released in 2023; Veeze collaborated with artists like Lil Uzi Vert, Lucki, and Lil Yachty.

Over the years, his music and collaboration with other rappers have earned him considerable earnings and bonuses.

He Is Not Used to the Hype

As his profile grew over the years, the rapper realized people started to treat him differently, as if he were a superhero.

So, to avoid awkward conversations with his friends and family, Veeze pretended to be asleep to duck incoming calls and avoid going outside.

Veeze’s rise to stardom was overwhelmingly fast, and he could not go out in the city and do anything unless he had people with him.

In an interview with Fader, he expressed that once people see you in the limelight, it does not matter if they know you; it all changes.

He added, “People be crazy. Friends you knew for life, even your own family. People basing what they do in they life on your opinion. And it just be like, ‘Damn, all this because I do music?'”
