Just one year after their first meet-up, the couple decided to get married and eventually shared their self-written wedding vows in front of friends and family members.

By the second date, they were in constant contact, chatting and having fun. It was the first time they experienced true love, and from that moment, their adventure started.

Gio Benitez Proposed To Tommy DiDario In Paris
On September 17, 2015, in the morning on the Pont de Bir-Hakeim in Paris, with the Eiffel Tower serving as a backdrop, Benitez devised a secret plan to ask Tommy to share the rest of his life with him.
He’d met the guy just nine months earlier, but there was no doubt that the two were meant to be together.
Everything was working out perfectly when DiDario reluctantly accepted his request to visit Eiffel Tower early in the morning.
Benitez’s photographer, Pierre, was ready to capture the emotional moment with his camera. He stood at the bridge pretending to be a tourist, taking pictures.
Then Benitez knelt down to one knee and said, “time is what’s left behind in the wake of love. Thomas Gabriel DiDario Jr., will you marry me?.”
The American broadcaster was so nervous and vulnerable at the time, beyond anything he had experienced to that point. At that moment, his heart was in his throat with the realization that anything could happen.
Benitez’s nervousness turned into happiness when Tommy replied with an emphatic “Yes!”
He knew that his boyfriend would only ask this question once in his lifetime to the most caring, loving, brilliant, and supportive gorgeous man.

Gio Benitez and Tommy DiDario married in an intimate wedding ceremony on April 16, 2016. The couple exchanged self-written wedding vows at the historic Walton House before sunset in front of 165 guests, including friends and family.
“It’s so special to see how excited our friends and family have been about this wedding,” said Benitez. They both wore a groom’s J.Crew tuxes and custom-made ties for their special day.
The two started the party with their first dance after their first kiss as husbands. They danced to Il Volo’s cover of ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ from Disney’s The Lion King.
They were honored by many members of Benitez’s extended news family, including Shepard Smith, Sam Champion, Martha Raddatz, and others.
Just a day later, he shared his wedding videos on his Instagram. After their union, they were blown away by all the love thrown their way prior to heading to Bali for the honeymoon.

“I used to be one of those guys who never really thought about marriage, and then I met Tommy,” Benitez told People. However, they were now commemorating their sixth anniversary as a married couple.
