The American Television personality Countess Vaughn has fought several personal battles in her life over the years. She was previously married to her husband, Joseph James, with whom she shared two kids.

Went Through a Failed Marriage and a Broken Engagement
According to the reports by Rollingout, the actress/singer announced her engagement on March 26, 2016. The former Moesha star shared the exciting news with her fans and followers on Instagram.
The picture she posted featured a man who was bent down on his knees. Further, she wrote, “He asked to marry me….and I said yes..”
Besides, The Parker star had kept her relationship private, and the identity of the mystery man was not revealed. But, according to AmoMama, her fiance was David Whitten.
As per the same report, it was also disclosed that the pair attended a prom-themed party together. To celebrate the occasion on Instagram as she wrote, “I’m thankful and blessed…love you guys…it’s a big night for me…loving my makeup…feeling 18 again.”
Unfortunately, Countess and her then-soon-to-be husband’s engagement could not last long, as they called it off sometime later.
Prior to the engagement, she was married to her now-former husband Joseph James. The former spouses were married from 2002 to 2005.

In one of her Instagram posts, she shared a picture of her daughter Sasha Whitten. In response to this post, her fans mentioned that Countess and Sasha were nearly Identical and referred to them as twins.
Countess is extremely close to her babies and often posts about them on her social media.
Was Countess Vaughn’s Then-Soon-To-Be Husband abusive?
As per the reports by TMZ, Countess Vaughn claimed that her ex-boyfriend was abusive to her for years. Further, she claimed that he even threw bleach on her face. Eventually, after she took the matter to court, Countess got an order of protection.
According to the same report, Countess’ ex-boyfriend, David Benjamin Richard Whitten, allegedly threw bleach at her face to keep her from working as an actress.
She claimed that her former boyfriend was insecure about her working in the film industry. So, he allegedly kept abusing her emotionally and physically for a decade.
Moreover, she claimed that Whitten even threatened to leak her explicit videos on the internet. Additionally, Countess allegedly got death threats from her ex-boyfriend. So, she feared that he might hurt her children if he was allowed to contact them.
An L.A. judge signed off, ordering David to stay 100 yards clear of Countess and her kids.

Countess Vaughn Talked about Her Abortion and Weight Loss Journey
In a shocking sneak peek from Hollywood Divas, Countess revealed that she had an abortion when she was just 18. The decision to have an abortion was not only painful but she was forced to keep it a secret from everyone.
The unexpected revelation left her exploring new territories, she said, “I had an unwanted pregnancy, and had just started my TV show,” Countess Vaughn recalled. “I knew that in black Hollywood a girl having a baby, they’d get rid of you. I had to do something about it, and had to make a decision to get rid of a child for my career.”
She expressed that if anybody knew about it, then her show would have been canceled. She shared that it took a toll on her emotionally and physically, and she needed the help of a therapist to cope with it.
